The Inspection Service Agreement
We use the standard Inspection Service Agreement With Respect To a Chiefly Residential Immovable form. This form is used by all members of the Quebec Association of Building Inspectors (AIBQ). If the property being inspected is a condominium, co-ownership or a commercial property there are appendix added which are specific to these situations. At the end of the inspection there is an Inspection Completion Certificate to be completed and signed.
Declaration by the Owner
The Building Declaration by the owner form is a tool intended to gather information about the home. It permits the owner to declare, to the best of his knowledge, the information on the key components of the building and to provide the documents (invoices, warranties, reports, plans, permits, etc..) relating to work performed on the building.
Home Inspection Standards of Practice
The standards of practice inform the public on the nature and the scope of a home inspection prior to purchasing a property. They provide guidelines during the inspection and up to the written report. The standard defines certain terms relative to the inspection of the building in order to ensure a common understanding. In other words, the standards of practice are an integral part of the service agreement, and outline what is inspected and how it is reported.
